Willamette Model Watershed Program
Marys River Watershed Council was invited to join the Willamette Model Watershed Program (MWP) in 2010. The program was created by Bonneville Environmental Foundation and Meyer Memorial Trust, as a component of the Willamette River Initiative. The program is designed to help accelerate the pace, extent and effectiveness of watershed restoration in the Willamette River. The 10-year program has provided additional capacity funds to support program development and management for geographically targeted restoration. The focus areas in Marys River watershed are Beaver, Woods, and Greasy creeks plus TumTum River.
The program has created a spirit of learning and sharing among the seven participating watershed councils, and has allowed us to accomplish a great deal of concentrated restoration work in priority places.
